Enterprise Middle School Psychologist Recognized by the Washington State Association of School Psychologists

Enterprise Middle School Psychologist Alexis Romero, Ed.S., has been recognized by the Washington State Association of School Psychologists (WSASP) as the 2023 recipient of the first ever Best Practices Award for Early Career Professional Practices.

Ms. Romero was recognized for her exceptional work collaborating with students, families, and staff to ensure that educational and behavioral needs are being met inside and outside the classroom. She has a passion for leading with a "what's best for students" mentality and modeling best practices for those around them.

“Alexis has a huge heart for our kids and is beloved by the staff at Enterprise,” says Enterprise Middle School Principal Sheldon Weddle. “She shows up every day with a passion for making sure each of our kids have what they need to be successful.”

Twelve members of her team at Enterprise nominated her for this award, including a general education teacher, school social worker, principal, and several colleagues in special education. Ms. Romero prioritizes equitable access for all and systematically reviews data to watch for disproportionality and discrimination. She is a strong advocate for students and families and works closely with building administration to identify needs at a systems level.

The Best Practices Award for Early Career Professional Practices recognition is given to a professional in their first three years of practice. This is Ms. Romero’s first year as a school psychologist.
