Advisors: Travis McClelland/Kathy Perlot (travis.mcclelland@rsd.edu, kathy.perlot@rsd.edu)
Start Date: January 23, 2024
End Date: Archery club ends on the weekend of the state shoot, March 9, 2023
Practices: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday mornings at 6:15-7:30 am in the EMS Gym. Students enter through doors by the big gym. DOORS WILL NOT BE OPEN BEFORE 6:15 AM
Snow Days: We will not practice in the mornings if there is a snow day or a delayed start.
Conflicts: We work with Mr. Laws so that if a student is in a zero hour band, they can shoot and then leave for band practice.
ASB Fees: Your archer will need to be a member of the ASB. This is $20 for the year.
Equipment: EMS will provide the bows and arrows to shoot. Please do not bring your own bow, unless it is a Genesis bow, made for shooting in the schools. Genesis bows can be purchased at Ranch and Home or online through Amazon. If you plan to go this route, please verify it is the bow your archer needs. BE AWARE WE PROVIDE ALL THE EQUIPMENT YOUR ARCHER NEEDS TO HAVE A SUCCESSFUL EXPERIENCE!
Target Blocks and Animals: Archers will have the opportunity to shoot at block targets and animal targets in the 3-D shoot. We have both the animals and the blocks here at EMS to practice on.
Practice Archery Tournaments: Schools usually host “practice shoots” at their schools to get kids ready for the state shoot.
State Shoot: Usually EMS hosts the state shoot, but NASP would like to host it at the Benton Franklin County Fairgrounds this year on Saturday, March 9, 2024. The fees to be in the state tournament are: $20 for the block shoot and $20 for the 3-D animal shoot. If your archer wants to participate in both shoots, it is a total of $40. The state shoot will start Friday, March 8th and will end Saturday, March 9th. Students wishing to shoot at the state shoot will need to have their ASB card.
Deadline to Register for State Shoot: February 2, 2024 - PLEASE LET US KNOW IF YOUR ARCHER WILL BE ATTENDING THE STATE SHOOT AT THE BENTON COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS.
National Archery Tournaments: Archers have to qualify for the national archery tournament. This tournament is held outside of Salt Lake City, usually after spring break. EMS has had two students shoot at Nationals in the past. Funding for the tournament is on the archer, with the exception of entry fees.
